Jack D. Reed, Sr., age 82, of Erie, MI, passed away peacefully after a valiant 6 year battle with multiple myeloma, Thursday, May 14, 2015 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 2, 1933 to Walter Reed and Caroline (Henderman) Smith in Toledo. Jack was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving his country proudly in the Korean War. On February 2, 1957 he married the love of his life, Janet (Kruse) Reed, whom preceded him in death in 2014 after 57 years of marriage. Jack worked at AP Parts until retiring in 1984 after 32 years of service. Jack was a member of the Point Place American Legion Post# 110. His greatest joy was stock car racing and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Jack enjoyed fishing with them when they were small and was even the equipment manager for the WJFL Knights football league for 5 years. His family will cherish the memory of his joking ways.

In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Sherry Lynn Reed; son, Jack D. Reed, Jr.; sister, Loretta; and brothers, Dale and Ed. Jack is survived by his loving children, sons, Robert (April) and Thomas (Lila) Reed; daughters, Loretta (Mark) Haupricht and Bonnie (Jeff) Sampson; daughter in law Amy; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and his beloved cat Mocha.

Jack's family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Timothy Kasunic and staff at the Toledo Clinic Cancer Center for the compassionate care they gave to Jack during his illness.
