Jack L. Poitinger, age 79, of Toledo, passed away on Sunday, May 7, 2017 at Genesis Healthcare - Sylvania Center. He was born on March 22, 1938 to Louis and Audrey (Parris) Poitinger in Toledo. Jack married the love of his life, Patricia "Pat" (Carpenter) Poitinger on June 25, 1965 in Monclova, Ohio. He retired from the City of Toledo, Forestry Division and Sewer Dept. after 30 years of service. Throughout his entire life he was an avid weightlifter and he was a true outdoorsman, especially enjoying fishing and hunting. His family will remember him for his wonderful sense of humor, whit and embellished story telling.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Patricia "Pat" Poitinger; daughter, Lisa Kowalski; son, Jack L. Poitinger, II; grandchildren, Louie, Joshua and Veronica; brothers in law, Richard Mitchell and Jim (Joyce) Carpenter; sisters in law, Jean Hensley and Barbara Carpenter; niece, Jennifer Carpenter and many nephews; dear friends, Wilbur "Hippy" Hipkiss and Kenny Klownowski. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his only sister, Nancy Mitchell; brothers in law, Charles Hensley and Billy Carpenter and niece, Clarily Hensley.
The family will receive guests on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 from 2-7:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin in the funeral home on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
