Jack L. Fox, age 89, passed away on Friday, May 31, 2013 at Briar Hill Health Campus in North Baltimore, Ohio. He was born on April 20, 1924 to Lawrence C. and Claire H. (Harris) Fox in St. Louis, MO. He was raised in Van Wert, Ohio; graduating from Zanesville High School in 1942. Following high school he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1943 as an Aviation Cadet. He proudly served his country as a fighter pilot in the South Pacific and was discharged in 1945 with the rank of First Lieutenant.

Jack enrolled at the University of Cincinnati in the pre-medical program in 1946; transferring to the School of Engineering in 1949. He graduated with a degree in Aeronautical Engineering in 1954. Jack married Mary Lou (McCormick) Fox in 1948 and she preceded him in death on January 8, 2012.

He was employed by the Sperry Gyroscope Company in Great Neck, New York in 1954. Jack later joined The Grumman Aerospace Corporation in Bethpage, New York in 1964 where he worked as an Aerospace Systems Engineer until retirement in 1987. While he was employed with The Grumman Aerospace Corp., he earned his Master of Science degree in mathematics and statistics from SUNY Stony Brook. During his 32 years of employment, Jack spent 10 years of evening graduate studies in science and engineering at the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn.

After retirement Jack and Mary Lou moved to Norton Hill, New York in 1987. Together they joined the United Methodist Church of Greenville and Norton Hill in 1989. Jack was very active in the church worship activities and entered the Theological School of Drew University in Madison, New Jersey for one year in 1995.

Left to cherish his memory is his daughter, JamiLynn E. Fox of Toledo, Ohio; grandchildren, Jennifer of Perrysburg, Ohio; Michael of Fairbanks, Alaska; Emily, Olivia and Jaydon of Powell, Ohio. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou and sister, Betty Heinz.

A Private Memorial Service for Jack will be held at later date for family and close friends. Inurnment will follow in Fairfield, Ohio following the Memorial Services.
