Jack W. Arthur

May 10, 1945 — February 1, 2025

Jack W. Arthur, born on May 10, 1945, in Whitman, West Virginia, departed this life on February 1, 2025, in Sylvania, Ohio. He was 79 years old. Jack lived a life full of passion, creativity, and dedication, marked by his love for art, nature, and, most importantly, family.

Jack devoted over 40 years of his life to the art of overland travel as a truck driver. His journeys took him across the country, allowing him to experience the beauty of America while also providing for his beloved family. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy straight out of high school, an experience that shaped his strong character and values.

Residing most of his life in Plymouth, Ohio, Jack made the move to Toledo following the birth of his grandchildren, underscoring his commitment to being close to family. He was an avid gardener, dedicating time to ensure his yard was always a reflection of his creativity and love for the outdoors. His artistic talents were evident not only in gardening but also in his passion for painting, sculpting with ice or wood, and he enjoyed reading and watching historical documentaries.

Jack's family fondly recalls the many memories they created together. His daughters, Sheri Britt and Cristi Arthur, remember the thoughtful and loving gifts he brought home from his travels and the playhouse he constructed for them. He delighted in bringing joy to others, always leaving a lasting impression with his kind gestures.

Jack is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Emogene Arthur, his daughters Sheri Britt and husband Troy, and Cristi Arthur. He was a proud grandfather to Laurie Redden and husband Jackson, Leah Britt, David Britt, and Kaylee Britt. In addition, he leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and other extended family members who carry forward his legacy of love and creativity.

He joins in eternal rest his father, Glen D. Arthur; his mother, Marcella Arthur; his brother, Glenn D. Arthur Jr.; his sister, Carrol Lynch; his brother, James Arthur; and his nephews and niece, David Lynch, Scott Lynch, and Jackie Arthur. They will all be remembered in the hearts of those who loved them.
