Jack A. Lombard, 80, of Toledo, passed away Tuesday, September 9, 2008 in his home. He was born on May 10, 1928 to Ira and Grace (Olson) Lombard in Shelby, Ohio. Jack was employed as a Star Route Mail Carrier for USPS for 42 years before retiring in 1993. He was a longtime member of Good Shepard of the Deaf Lutheran Church, serving as an elder and treasurer for many years. Jack was an avid sports fan, especially of the Toledo Mud Hens and the Ohio State Buckeyes. He often loved spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Marilyn (Stephens) Lombard and his sister, Faith Lombard. Jack is survived by his daughters, Gayle (Jeff) Wise and Grace Lombard; grandchildren, Aubri (Brad), Garett (Beth), Eric and Jim; great-grandchildren, Bailey, Nick and Kiley; and sister, Jean (Wade) Hastings.
The family will receive guests on Friday from 3 – 7:00 p.m. at the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Inurnment will take place at Rice Cemetery, Elkhart, Indiana at a later date.
