Iva A. Dickinson, age 93, of Parkcliffe Community, passed away Saturday, December 17, 2011 at St. Luke's Hospital. She was born on September 17, 1918 to Nelson and Ethel (Shank) Hamblin in Ada, Michigan. Iva worked as an executive secretary for over 25 years before retiring; first with the Rossford Ordinance Depot Military Base and then with Rock Island Arsenal Military Base. She was an avid reader, enjoyed playing cards and doing crossword puzzles. Iva also loved traveling with her husband Elmer. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Dickinson; daughter, Judith Dickinson; sons, Larry and Ray Dickinson; sister, Jane Soldano; and brothers, Keith, Floyd and James Hamblin. Iva is survived by her loving daughter, Sandra (Steve) Hall; grandchildren, Chris (Lorri) Ritter, Paula (Tim) McHugh and Lisa (Bob) Donato; many great and great-great grandchildren; and sister, Margaret Hamblin.
The family will receive guests on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. (419-381-1900) where Funeral Services will begin at 1:30 p.m. Interment will be private in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
The family would like to give a special thank you to all of the staff and caregivers at Parkcliffe Communities, especially Katie, Sharon and Vicki for all of their loving care and support given to Iva and her family through this difficult time.
