Irene M. Williams, age 85 of Toledo, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, August 14th, 2010 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg. On October 12th, 1924 she was born to Oscar and Edna (Quillin) Simmons in Alliance, Ohio. She married Harry Williams on August 10th, 1941 in Jefferson, Ohio and this year they would have celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary.
Irene worked at Sears for 20 years as a clerk in the parts department. Following her retirement from Sears she was a Manager and active representative for Tupperware Products for almost 10 years. Irene was a member of Trinity Nazarene Church for over 50 years. She was an avid collector of stuffed teddy bears, teddy bear figurines and Cherished Teddies. At one time, Irene had collected over 200 stuffed teddy bears. Irene enjoyed the art of ceramic making, typing poem books on the computer that she often gave to family, friends and doctors' offices.
Preceding her in death are her parents and husband, Harry on July 3rd, 2009; son, Ralph Williams and her sister, Mary Bright. Irene is survived by daughters, Judi (Dean) Warner and Nancy (Joe) Carens; grandchildren, Nancy (Bill) Brogan, Kristie Rayford, Amy (Dan) Seaman and Donna (Ben) McIver; great-grandchildren, Mike, Mason, Andrew, Lucas, Nathanael, Eliana, Levi, and Conor; great-great-grandaughter, Sophiya.
The family will receive guests Wednesday 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor Rick Ketterman. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
