Irene Vetter

Irene Vetter, age 86, of Toledo, passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Toledo, where she was surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 12, 1928 to Alex and Mary (Horvath) Smith in Toledo. Irene worked for Jeep as a secretary where she met her husband, Al Vetter. For several years she worked as a homemaker, taking care of her family. Later in life she worked for Secor Finishing for 20 years. Most important to Irene was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, James Vetter, Jane (Tom) Thayer, Karen (Scott) Huven and Linda Holden; grandchildren, Marshall (Robin), Wade (Melissa), Chad (Jenna), Kristin (James), Chris, Todd (Becky), Kendra (Paul), David (Frankie) and Ashley; many precious great-grandchildren; sister, Margaret (Marv) Barr. She was preceded in death by her husband; 2 brothers; 4 sisters and grandson, Little Paul.

The family will receive guests on Sunday, May 10, 2015 from 2-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). A Rosary will be recited in the funeral home on Sunday at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will begin in the funeral home on Monday, May 11, 2015 at 9:15 a.m. followed by her Funeral Mass at Blessed Sacrament Church, 4227 Bellevue Rd. at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
