Irene Silverthorne

Irene M. Silverthorne, age 87, passed away Monday, January 18, 2010 at The Toledo Hospital. She was born October 18, 1922 to William and Mary (Miller) Engelhardt. Survivors include, her loving husband of 61 years, DeWitt Silverthorne; two daughters, Linda (Raymond) Kucalaba and Nancy (Michael) Melms; two sons, Gary Silverthorne and Alan Silverthorne; nine grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death are her parents and two brothers, Paul and Clarence Engelhardt.

Irene graduated from Perrysburg High School in 1940 and worked at Western-Union before marrying DeWitt Silverthorne in 1948. Irene taught at the church school for the Lutheran Church of Our Saviour. Irene enjoyed playing the piano. She will be remembered as a loving and supportive wife, mother, and grandmother who always put her family first.
The family will receive guests Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Lutheran Church of Our Saviour, 2820 W. Alexis Rd., Toledo, Ohio . Funeral Services will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the church. Officiating will be Pastor Richard O. Sauerlender. Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park.
