Irene M. Pearce, age 97, of Toledo, passed away peacefully Thursday, August 9, 2012 at Ebeid Hospice Residence. She was born on August 1, 1915 to John and Mary (Wylkolkuw) Pomorski in Toledo. Irene was a longtime member of Christ the King Catholic Church. She enjoyed sailing and traveling with her husband, especially the winter months they spent in Las Vegas. Irene was an avid bingo player and loved sitting on her front porch. She loved nothing more than the time spent with her children and grandchildren. Irene will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Pearce; son-in-law, Kenneth Barrett; 2 sisters; and 4 brothers. Irene is survived by her loving children, Patricia Barrett, William (Carolyn) Pearce, Robert (Connie) Pearce, Kathleen (John) Slaughter and John Pearce; 18 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and one great-grandson on the way; sister-in-law, Rita Pomorski; many other relatives and dear friends.
The family will receive guests on Sunday from 3 – 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Monday at 12:00 p.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church, 4100 Harvest Lane, Toledo. Interment will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Toledo.
