Ira Edwards

Ira "Bob" Edwards, age 71, of Toledo, passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at Lake Park Comfort Care, Sylvania. He was born on December 12, 1936 to Ira George and Margaret (Popp) Edwards in Toledo. Bob was a veteran of the U.S Marine Corp. He worked at the Dura Corporation for 29 years until retiring. Bob then went on to work at Washington Local Schools for a short time. He was a member of St. Clement Catholic Church and the Roman "Buddy" Frankowski VFW Post 5530. Bob loved to golf and go fishing. He was an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers and The Ohio State Buckeyes. Bob enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his special aunt, Thela Clark. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Mary Jane (Hernes) Edwards; children: Jim Edwards, Barbara (Mike) LaPoint, David (Anne) Conry, Judy (Fred) Weiland, Sharon (Tony) Adams, Mari (Rich) Tank, Arleen (Cal) Brothers and John Irlam; Dzia Dzia to 18 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; brother: Gerald (Judy) Murphy; sister: Margaret Carpenter; special cousin: Helen (Bill) Kraft; best friend: Whitey (Vicki); and many dear friends.

The family will receive guests on Friday from 2 – 7:00 p.m. at the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make donations are asked to consider Lake Park Comfort Care.
