Ionia Horton, age 80, passed away on May 19, 2016. She was born on June 28, 1935 in Texarkcana, Texas.
Ionia was a 1953 graduate at Whitney High School. In the '60s she worked for Lucas County. In the '70s she was employed by Libbey Owens Ford. In the '80s Ionia and her late husband Rogers, started a very successful concrete company.
She is survived by her children, Pamela (Leonard) Williams and Roger (Johnnie Mae) Horton. Ionia was preceded in death by her husband, Rogers; son, Rodney and daughter, Cynthia Jo.
Visitation will be Friday, May 27, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. in the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo (419-381-1900). Wake Services will be held Saturday, May 28, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. followed by the Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. at Mount Nebo Baptist Church, 831 North Detroit Ave. Interment will follow in Historic Woodlawn Cemetery.
