Hugo A. Ibarra, age 84, of Toledo, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at Ebeid Hospice Residence, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 8, 1930 to Armando and Julia (Garza) Ibarra in Realitos, Texas. Hugo was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving his country during the Korean War, receiving a United Nations Korean Service Medal. Hugo was an Aviation Machinist Petty Officer 3rd class. He was an active longtime member of the VFW Post #606, serving as a member of the Honor Guard. Hugo worked as a salesman for over 30 years before retiring. Hugo spent time golfing with his sons, playing pool, poker and bowling. He enjoyed listening and dancing to Mexican music. Hugo loved nothing more than the time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by grandson, Nicholas Ibarra; and great-grandson, Cameron Cortez. Hugo is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Viola (Leal) Ibarra; children, David (Debbie) Ibarra, Patrick (Connie) Ibarra, Linda (Matt) Rogers and Michael (Sandy) Ibarra; 15 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; sister, Edna Hallahan; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
The family will receive guests on Sunday from 2 – 7:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Monday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Entombment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park.
