Hubert J. "Shorty" Kohler, 86, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on December 2, 2012. He was born on October 31, 1926 to the late Anna and Frank Kohler in Waterloo, Illinois.
Shorty was a proud WWII Veteran and was active in the Catholic War Vets, Conn-Weisenberger American Legion and associate member of the VFW. He retired from Champion Sparkplug as Chief Air Craft Mechanic. Shorty enjoyed racing boats, motorcycles, watching Nascar and loved making people laugh. Shorty was also a member of Toledo Airport Old Timers Club.
In addition to his parents, Shorty was preceded in death by his first wife, Madonna J. and son, Glenn Allen; brothers, Frank and Louis; sister, Anna and best friend, Steve Oravecz. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 15 years, Carolyn; children, Laurie (Mark) Wojcinski, Betty (Dana) Crocker, Jeff (Debbie) Palmer, Chris (Cindy) Palmer and Pam (Ron) Meyer; sister, Monica; brother, Julian; 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive guests on Thursday from 2-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300). A funeral service will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. Burial at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
