Howard T. Whalen, Sr.
Howard T. Whalen, Sr., age 81, formerly of Toledo passed away Sunday, November 23, 2003 in Grand Rapids Care Center, Grand Rapids, Ohio. He was born September 12, 1922 to Charles and Viola (Woodruff) Whalen in Whitehouse, Ohio. Howard was a 1941 graduate of Whitehouse High School and a WWII US Army Veteran. Howard was employed with Electric Autolite Co. and then for the Ziv Steel Co. for 27 years, retiring in 1986. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, dancing and searching for antiques at area flea markets.
Howard was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 55 years, Mary Louise (Aubry); son, Howard T. (Donna) Whalen, Jr; daughter, Cynthia L. (Joseph) Hatas; grandchildren, Laura (Andrew) Hall and Sean Whalen; great grandson, Evan Hall; granddogs, Darby and Liberty Bell Hatas; MacLeod and Shadow Whalen and special pet,
Dottie
; brothers, Charles (Martha) Whalen and Donald (Marcella) Whalen; sister, Grace Kronenberger and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. In addition to his parents, Howard was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
The family will receive guests Friday from 9-11:00 a.m. in the Newcomer-Farley Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor Andy George. Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens, Waterville, Ohio. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association of NW Ohio, 2500
