Herman "Butch" Burmeister, age 64, of Toledo, passed away, Monday, May 16, 2005 at his residence surrounded by his loving family and friends. Herman was born June 8th, 1940 to Herman and Olivia (Sherman) Burmeister in Toledo. Herman was one of the first survivors of open heart surgery at the Toledo Hospital; February 1964. He worked for Conrail Railroad as an engineer for 15 years, and then was a TARTA bus driver for 20 years, retiring in 2002. He enjoyed participating with the Democratic Party, working on numerous political campaigns. Herman enjoyed building and fixing things with his grandchildren. He was very proud of his sons and loved nothing more than to spend time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years; Maggie; sons: Herman (Robbin), Michael J. (Florence) Burmeister; grandchildren: Michael II, Joseph, Nicholas, Stephen, Caitlyn, Andrew Jacob; brothers: Rodney (Mary Etta) Robinson, Michael A. (Ann) Burmeister; sister: Barbara (Lacy) Dowell; loving brother-in-laws: Denis and Mike Mayberry; and his cat, Princess. Herman was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo, OH (419-473-0300) on Friday, May 20, 2005 from 5-8:00 p.m. where a funeral service will take place on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. Father John Laudick officiating.

Butch was a loving husband, wonderful father, brother, a tremendous grandfather, and good friend, who will be loved and missed dearly by all.
