Herbert D. "Herb" Kyler, age 85, of Sylvania, formerly of Toledo, passed away peacefully, Friday, April 25, 2014 at the Goerlich Center. He was born on February 10, 1929 to Royal and Gertrude (Durr) Kyler in Dekalb, Illinois. Herb graduated from Dekalb High School in 1947. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean Conflict. Herb was the owner/operator of his China cookware company for many years. He was an avid reader of the dictionary, often using words unknown to most. Herb was a people person and never met a stranger. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marlene Kyler, 2010. Herb is survived by his loving daughters, Sheryl (Jimmy) Bates, Deana (Georg) Bloecher and Dana (Cary) Saddoris; grandchildren, Alex, Alexandria, Megan and Alissa; siblings, Barbara Mikez and Bobby (Shirley) Kyler; cousin and friend, Jay (Betty) Ward; and several nieces, nephews and dear friends.
The family will receive guests on Friday from 3 – 6:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300) with Funeral Services beginning at 6:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor Dave Claassen.
