In Loving Memory of
"Big Hebrew"
Henry R. Simpson

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Henry R. Simpson. He passed away on Sunday, December 17, 2023, at The University of Toledo Medical Center with his family by his side. Henry was born to Marlena (Watson) Rowell and John Henry Simpson on October 4, 1959, in St. Louis, Missouri.

Henry was employed by Talk N Win as a security guard for fifteen years. He held the esteemed position of head of security and took immense pride in training new employees. During his free time, he enjoyed traveling, fishing, watching football games, and spending quality time with his family.

Henry was a gifted storyteller who could bring each scene to life with his words, actions, and sound effects. He was a natural comedian and a one-person show who could make anyone laugh. Among his loved ones, Henry was known for his endearing nicknames, "Big Hen," "Big Hebrew," "Hebrew," "Simp," and sometimes "Baby Huey." He had a few favorites that held a special place in his heart. "Son," "big brother," and "friend" - three titles that held immense value for him. Each one represented a unique bond and connection that he treasured deeply.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Tom and Lula Watson, Stark Simpson, and Ruby Davis. Uncle Moses Jackson, aunts Tommy Mae Shelton, Lula Bea Winn, brother Reggie Simpson, sister Estigneeve C. McKinney, nephew Tyler Kevin Connelly McFadden, and cousins.

He is survived by his mother, Evangelist Marlena Rowell, and his father, John Henry Simpson. His siblings include Gilda Gause, Darnell Weems, Gwendolyn Jones, Dana (Bryan) Womack, W.C. (Julia) McFadden, Ancosmia Rowell, and Bishop Christopher (Sharisse) Rowell. He also leaves behind his aunts, Thelma Anders and Bobbie Burnett, as well as many nieces, great-nieces, nephews, great-nephews, cousins, his special friend Marilyn Gamble, and his extended family at Talk N Win. He had many other friends who will miss him dearly.

A special thank you to the Lucas County 911 operator, the EMS response team, and the doctor and nurses at The University of Toledo Medical Center Emergency Department.

Visitation will be held at The Refreshing Place, 2500 Nebraska Avenue, Toledo, OH 43607, on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. Celebration of life services will immediately follow at 11:00 am, and interment will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery.
