Henry L. Peace, age 70, of Toledo, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at the University of Toledo Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 2, 1943 to Mike and Lottie (Burkhart) Peace in Kenvir, Kentucky. Henry worked at Chrysler for 30 years before retiring. He was an avid fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Indians. Henry loved to fish and be in the outdoors. He was an avid horse and dog racing fan, meeting his friends daily at the track. Henry also loved to frequent the casinos. He looked forward to traveling with his wife and riverbank sitting and fishing. Henry will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Judy Simmons; sons, Brian and Joey; and brothers-in-law, Lenny Haupricht and Bill Barkhimer. Henry is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Cathy (Barkhimer) Peace; daughters, Tracy, Kelly McClain, Tanya Peace and Angie (Kevin) Cupp; grandchildren, David, Brianna, Faith, Kylie and Emilie; brothers, Robert (Wanda) and Michael (Kathy) Peace; sister, Joyce Peace-Haupricht; father and mother-in-law, Bob (Irene) Barkhimer; brothers-in-law, Rick, Bob (Cathy), John (Grace) and Dan (Rose) Barkhimer; best neighbors and great friends, Ray (Tammy) Mazey; a host of dear friends from the track; and many nieces, nephews, other family members and dear friends.
The family will receive guests on Sunday from 2 – 4:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300). Memorial Services will begin Sunday at 4:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
