Helen Delories Taylor was born on September 29, 1941 to Robert and Rozena (Jones) Gainey. She passed away on Monday, February 24, 2025 at Mercy Health of Perrysburg with loved ones near.
Helen was a graduate of Scott High School. She furthered her education at Spring Harbor College, earning her Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration -May 1993. She worked at Ameritech Corporation/Ohio Bell for 30 years, starting as a long distance operator and promoted to Supervisor and lastly Manager. Helen retired October 1994. Post retirement, she found her next chapter career that was truly her “love language”. She became a travel agent for Ottawa Hills Travel Group/Leisure Travel. To know Helen is to know she loved to travel, shop, explore and of course take in fine dining. A few other past times was her love of reading a good book (hard cover) and college sports!
Helen was married to her husband, Herbert “Butch” Taylor for 48 years, until his passing. To that union, two sons were born, Reginald Stacey Taylor and Rodney Lamonte Taylor.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Rozena Gainey , step-sister, Betty Gadsden, husband, Herbert Taylor and son, Rodney Taylor.
Helen is survived by son, Reginald Taylor. Grandsons-Vincent, Joshua, Jared and Jameel. Sister, LaVanna Allen and many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A memorial service to celebrate Helen's like will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Newcomer Funeral Home SW Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo.
