Helen Stoll peacefully passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2016, in Woodstock, Georgia, where she was living with her daughter. Helen and her husband, John, came to the United States in 1951 and settled in Toledo, Ohio, where they lovingly raised their two children. Helen was an astute and hardworking businesswoman, opening her own pastry shop, Stoll's Fine Cakes and Pastries in West Toledo. Her European pastries were enjoyed all over the United States, even making their way to President Nixon's table as one of his favorite desserts when he served as our president.
Helen had many hobbies; she loved her roses and at times, had over 100 gorgeous rose bushes in bloom in her yard. She was an excellent seamstress and a highly accomplished painter. She loved cooking for her family, spending time with her beloved grandchildren, and listening to classical music.
Helen was preceded in death by her dear husband, John. Her loving memory remains with her son Dr. Walter Stoll, his wife Geralyn, sons David (Holley), and Michael; as well as with her daughter Ludmilla Hartman and her husband, Daniel, and their children John, Lisa, Danielle Rutenber (Joe) and Lara Boettger (Bruce). She also has 3 great grandchildren she dearly loved.
Visitation is scheduled for Friday, January 22, 2016 from 11:00 to 12:00 at Newcomer Funeral Home at 4150 W. Laskey Road, Toledo, OH. Burial to follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made to the American Heart Association in Helen's memory.
