Helen M. Alford

Helen M. Alford, age 88, of Toledo, passed away peacefully Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 18, 1927 to George and Christiana (Eckhardt) Parker in Toledo. During World War II, Helen worked in the factories, supporting the war effort and was always very proud of this. She worked at Holly Glen Care Center for many years in the housekeeping department. Helen was an avid gardener, enjoyed watching Nascar, the Detroit Red Wings and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. God called another angel home to get her wings and reunited her with family who paved the way before her. Rest in Peace Mom.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Alford; son, Raymond Alford; granddaughter, Sirena Alford; sister, Mary J. Sloan; and son-in-law, Thomas Kurth. Helen is survived by her children, Barb Kurth, Terry (Charlene) Alford, Nancy (Jerry) Stevens, Linda (Bobby) Kobold, David (Joane) Alford and Robert Alford; daughter-in-law, Kathy Alford; grandchildren, Lisa (Bob), Laurie, Rita (Steve), Amy (Ken), Crystal (Pat), Terry Jr. (Jamie), Billy, Tammy (Danny), Bobby Jr. (Alison), Jeffery (Amy), Christopher and Amanda; 24 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Gathering will be held on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at Church 3 TwentyOne, 5845 Centennial Rd., Sylvania, Ohio from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.. The Newcomer Funeral Home – NW Chapel (419-473-0300) assisted the family with professional services.
