Helen E. Czech, age 98, of Lambertville, Michigan passed away February 12, 2014 at Aspen Grove Assisted Living. She was born February 18, 1915 in Gary, Indiana to Felix and Kate Swiderski. Helen graduated from Webster and St. Adalbert's grade schools, and Woodward High School in 1934. She worked at Electric Autolite from 1934 to 1958 when Autolite moved to Saginaw, Michigan. In 1962, she worked for Flint Community Schools, retiring in 1981. Helen was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 5530 and 606 from 1945 to the present. She enjoyed cooking, traveling, bowling, knitting and tending to her garden.
Helen married Chester Bonkowski July 6, 1940, who passed away on August 6, 1952; she then married Daniel Czech, October 25, 1958, who passed away September 16, 2010 and they were married for 52 years. She is survived by her son, Robert C. (Marcia) Bonkowski; grandchildren, Todd Bonkowski and Tina (Jeff) Burgard; great grandchildren, Makayla, Alec and Braden Burgard; and brother, Edward (Florence) Swiderski. In addition to her parents and husbands, Helen was preceded in death by her sisters, Margaret, Lottie and Rita; and brother, Leonard.
The family will receive guests Friday, February 14, 2014 from 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home - SW Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. (419-381-1900), where a Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will begin Saturday at 9:30 am. in the funeral home followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:00 am at St. Patrick of Heatherdowns Church, 4201 Heatherdowns Blvd. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
