Rev. Helen M. DuBell, age 93, passed away July 14, 2024. Helen was born August 16, 1930 in New Castle, Indiana to Ernest and Helen (Ehrsam) Bowman. She lived in Davis, West Virginia until 1940 before moving to Toledo. Helen attended Stickney Elementary, Woodward High School and graduating Whitney Vocational High School in 1948.
Helen married Robert L. DuBell on September 11, 1948. Raising 4 sons; Robert, Dennis, Bruce, and Raymond. She was a Cub Scout leader, volunteering at her son's school, and also volunteering at St. Paul's United Methodist. Helen was a member of Collingwood Methodist for many years. Moving to Clyde, OH in 1979. Attending Seminary 1983 at age 53, and ordained in mid 1983.
Helen was a pastor at Rochester United Methodist in Wellington, OH and Sand Hill United Methodist in Sandusky, OH before retiring in 1997. After the passing of her beloved husband, Robert in 2007, she moved back to Toledo to be near her family.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Helen was also preceded in death by her sister, Betty Gaydos; son's, Robert and Bruce. She is survived by her son's, Dennis (Marcia) and Raymond; brother, Ernie (Eileen); grandchildren, Dawn Ash (Mark), Robert E. (Jenny) DuBell Jr., Jasmine (Tim) Hagerman, Jenna DuBell, and Bethany DuBell; great-grandson, Garrett DuBell.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 18, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. with a funeral service beginning at 2:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home at 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. Toledo, OH 43614.
A graveside ceremony will be held on Friday, July 19, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Whitehouse Cemetery at 6645 Cemetery Rd, Whitehouse, OH 43571.
