Helen Marie (Degnan) Flynn

Helen Marie (Degnan) Flynn, age 79, resident of Toledo, Ohio, passed away on January 2, 2022, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on November 2, 1942, in Toledo, Ohio, to the late Norman and Carmelita (Riley) Degnan.
A 1960 graduate of St. Ursula High School, she furthered her education at Mary Manse College, graduating in 1964. Throughout her life she worked at numerous places; she would provide home/day care for children and adults for many years before retiring from the Alzheimer's Association. She grew up in the Old West End, and raised her family in Toledo. A strong and fearless woman, she battled and beat the fight with Breast Cancer. A very faithful and devout Catholic, she was an active and dedicated parishioner of St. Clements Catholic Church. Helen enjoyed visiting the Outer Banks in North Carolina and doing yoga at the YMCA. Very patient, loving, compassionate, tolerant, kind, forgiving, sassy, and funny are just a few adjectives from her family that described the woman Helen was. Helen was one of a kind and will truly be missed by all who knew her.
Those left to forever cherish her memory are her loving children, Michael (Sariah) Flynn, Kathleen (Steve) Florence, Philip Flynn, Matthew (Marie) Flynn, and Bridget (Kevin) Flynn; grandchildren, Damien, Autumn, Domonic, Alexandra, Wyatt, Ashley, Brittney, Zachary, Bailey, Collin, Chance, and Ian; great grandchildren, Emma, Archie, Eliza, Rae, Keagan, McKenna, Carson, Sean and Isabella; siblings, Mary Ann Barber, and Dennis (Amy) Degnan; sister-in-law, Joann Degnan.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Larry Degnan, John Degnan, and Dee (Jim) Roach; brother-in-law, Pete Barber; and a great granddaughter, Gabriella.
Family and friends may visit at the Newcomer Funeral Home, 3655 King Road, Toledo, Ohio 43617, on Sunday, January 9, 2022, from 12:00 pm – 3:30 pm, where her funeral service will take place at 3:30 pm, with Fr. Auth officiating.
