Harry J. Marquis

Harry J. Marquis, age 71, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away October 23, 2024, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Toledo. He was born on November 20, 1952, to the late Harry and Ruth (Cherry) Marquis.

Harry attended Start High School, where he graduated in 1970. He dedicated over 30 years to the Toledo Police Department, where his career was defined by compassion and bravery. Rising through the ranks, he served on the SWAT team and then as a detective. Harry’s dedication to protecting and serving the community earned him respect among colleagues and citizens, leaving a lasting legacy in law enforcement.

Beyond his professional contributions, Harry had interests that brought him joy. He enjoyed visits to casinos, where he embraced the thrill of chance with friends and family, and took pleasure in moments of relaxing downtime. 

His memory will reside in the hearts of many who had the privilege of knowing him.

Those left to forever cherish his memory are his loving wife, whom he married on August 19, 1991, after dating for 16 years, Joanne (Kinney) Marquis; son, James Marquis; the light of his life, grandson, Max; and siblings, Geri, Marsha, and Mick. 

Family and friends may visit at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 West Laskey Road, Toledo, Ohio 43623, on Friday, November 1, 2024, from 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm.
