Harry L. Powless, age 78, of Sylvania, went to be with his Lord Sunday, February 22, 2009 at St. Luke's Hospital. He was born October 23, 1930 to Wesley and Mable (Wolcott) Powless in Toledo. Harry was a member of Iron Workers Local 55 for 60 years. He was also a U.S. Veteran of the Army Corps of Engineers, serving his country proudly. Harry was a 32nd Degree Mason and a longtime member of Wilkins United Methodist Church in Swanton, Ohio. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying camping, fishing, hunting and traveling with his wife and family. Harry was very proud of his Indian Heritage, who's family have been longtime members of 6 Nations in Canada.
Harry is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Marilyn "Myke" Powless of Sylvania; son, Harry (Bev) Powless, Jr ; grandchildren, Stacy (Tom) Salon; Seth and Sam Powless; 3 great grandchildren; "Myke's" children, Michael; Mitzi; Shannon (Shelly) and Barry Bigelow; "Myke's grandchildren, Dustin; Tanna; Barry and Brian Bigelow and 1 great grandchild; brother, Richard "Gene" (Madora) Powless of Sylvania, OH and their children, Jon and Sally Powless and sister-in-law, Shirley (Jerry) Metcalf of Sylvania, OH. Also surviving are many special nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Family and friends are invited Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Wilkins United Methodist Church, Swanton, Ohio for a Memorial Service to celebrate Harry's life. Officiating will be Pastor Bruce Ford.
