Harry L.
Harry L. McCrum, age 82, of Sylvania, passed away peacefully in his home, Tuesday, February 10, 2009. He was a graduate of Fort Wayne Bible College, Indiana where he was also and ordained minister. After coming back to Toledo, Harry then graduated from Mary Manse College and was ministering at Sylvania Missionary Church, now known as Grace Peace Church. He worked in the school system for many years. Harry was the president of the Sylvania School Board from 1978 – 1980. He was the Assistant Superintendent of Sylvania Schools from 1984 - 1989 and then went on to be Superintendent in 1989 for one year and then retired. In retirement Harry worked as a 5th grade teacher at St. Stephen's School from 1999 – 2004. He was the founder and treasurer of the Hidden Park Association. Harry will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Marge (Hjerpie) McCrum, son, Robert A. McCrum, grandson, Danny L. McCrum, Jr., half-sister, Jane Weber and half-brothers, Claude, Frank and Sydney Richard. Harry is survived by his sons, Michael A. (Betty) and Danny L. (Debbie) McCrum, Sr.; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Helen Fritz and Sarah Drager; brother, Donnie McCrum; and his best friend, Grant Stoll.
There will be no visitation or services for Harry. The Newcomer Funeral Home (419-473-0300) assisted the family with professional services.
