Harry L. Burkett, age 90, of Temperance, MI, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, April 15, 2009 in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 10, 1918 to James and Flossie (Halsey) Burkett in New Haven, Indiana. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving our country proudly during World War II. Harry worked at Butler Paper Products for over 30 years as a press operator. He was a longtime member of the Lambertville VFW Post 9656. Harry was also a member of the Morocco United Brethren Church and the Bedford Senior Center. He was an avid volunteer with RSVP. Harry will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Darlene Burkett. Harry is survived by his loving wife of almost 68 years, Donnavive B. Burkett; children, Harry (Rebecca) Burkett, Sandra (Alan) Oberst, Connie (Nick) Mowery, Judy Burkett, Thomas Burkett, Maude Burkett, Richard (Susan) Burkett, Edith (Larry) Jenkins, Rudy Burkett, Gary (Linda) Burkett, Janet (Mike) Merritt and Brian (Rachel) Burkett; 19 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and sister, Wilda Stevens.
The family will receive guests on Sunday from 2 - 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Monday at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park.
