Gwendolyn (Myers) Rodgers

Gwendolyn "Gwen" (Myers) Rodgers, age 60, of Toledo, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at University of Toledo Medical Center. She was born on March 21, 1953 to Clifford "Red Hot" and Louise (Watkins) Myers in Deatsville, Alabama. Gwen attended Libbey High School. She was a longtime member of United Church of God. Gwen was married to Dwayne Curtis Rodgers. She was an excellent cook and her smile would light up any room. Gwen loved nothing more than the time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Delores Swain; and brothers, Clifford, Jr., Freddie and Brown Myers. Gwen is survived by her husband, Dwayne Rodgers; loving children, Germaine, Corry, James Myers and LaKisha Green; 14 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; sisters, Irazetta Jones, Jacqueline (Freddie) Robinson, Annie (James) Fitzpatrick and Lisa Myers; and many other relatives and dear friends.

The family will receive guests on Friday, April 26, 2013 from 2 – 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Saturday, April 27, 2013 at 12:00 p.m. at the United Church of God, 1122 Bronson Ave., Toledo with viewing from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services.
