Gregory Joseph Gleason

Gregory Joseph Gleason, a cherished member of his family and community, passed away on March 14, 2025, in Toledo, Ohio. Born on March 16, 1961, in Traverse City, Michigan, Greg was the youngest of ten children in the Gleason family. His early years in Lake Leelanau were filled with the beauty of the outdoors, where he developed a love for fishing and hunting. The family later moved to Sylvania, returning to Lake Leelanau, where countless memories were created.  Greg loved to go fishing down at the Maumee River in early spring.  He did this for many years.

After graduating from Leland High School in 1979, Greg devoted much of his life to his career. He began working alongside family at Mobile Home Supply in Belpre, Ohio. Greg was known for his adventurous spirit, as he eventually pursued various jobs, including a position in security within the Toledo area. His final role was with Safe Guard Security in Toledo, reflecting his dedication to work and self-sufficiency.

Greg's personality shone brightly throughout his life. He was known for his kindness and his deep love for family. He had a remarkable talent for storytelling, often reminiscing about the past in a way that captivated those around him. Despite dealing with breathing issues for many years which necessitated carrying a nebulizer, Greg continued to engage in conversations, pausing briefly to catch his breath before resuming as if nothing was amiss.

He is survived by his beloved siblings: Judy Bonse, Gary Gleason, Shirley Parrish and her husband Don, Robert Gleason, Rich Gleason, and Mary Bergren and her husband Ed. In addition, Greg leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will remember him fondly.

Greg was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Gleason Sr. and Clara Lucille Gleason, as well as his brothers Harry Jr., Jim, and Allen Gleason. His legacy of love and kindness will continue to resonate in the hearts of all who knew him.

A visitation to celebrate Greg’s life will be held on March 22, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a memorial service from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, Northwest Toledo, located at 4150 W Laskey Rd, Toledo, OH 43623.

In Lieu of flowers, friends may make a donation to the charity of their choice on behalf of Greg.
