Grace E. Macklenar
Our mother Grace Macklenar of Toledo, Ohio went home to be with the Lord on November 24th, 2009. She was born on February 21st, 1919 in Walbridge, Ohio, the fourth child of Rose Marie (Harste) and Floyd Suter. Our mother was a stay-at-home mom for the three of us; then in the early 1960's she and Dad bought the E.H. Rowley Company where he made artificial limbs and she managed the office. When Dad died in 1971 Mom continued working for the new owner until she retired in 1974. Mom loved gardening and always had a vegetable garden, even in her last year. She was devoted to the songbirds that would gather at her many bird feeders. Our mother lived a quiet contemplative life and followed her own path.
We three children Trudy (John) Murray, Lynn (Howard) Hepfinger and Mark (Oralee) survive her, as do her six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and her pet cat "Patches".
Her husband Franklin "Bud" Macklenar and her siblings Harvey, Glen, infant Bernard Suter and Rachel Carstens predeceased her.
We honored Mom's wish for a private Graveside Service which was held at Lake Township Cemetery, November 27th, 2009.
"We miss you Mom."
