Gordon Harrison Olson, age 69, of Lambertville, MI, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully Sunday, May 16, 2021 at Ebeid Hospice Residence with his loving family by his side. He was born on January 15, 1952 to Phillip and Virginia Olson in Toledo, OH. Gordon graduated from the University of Toledo. Although he had many academic and lifetime achievements his most precious accomplishment was being a husband, father and friend. He worked at the Toledo Hospital for over 25 years in adult and pediatric psychiatry as a registered nurse. He enjoyed surfing, scuba diving, swimming and traveling. Gordon had a passion for hockey and coached the Sylvania Maple Leafs for many years at Tam-O-Shanter. Gordon loved the Opera, all musicals and TV shows, especially the Walking Dead, Star Trek and Outlander being his favorites. He looked forward to time spent with friends but most importantly his family. Gordon's love for his family was evident in all he did. His smile, spirit and caring nature will deeply be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Gordon is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Sheila Olson; son, Jason Olson; siblings, Jean Marie (Paul) Rascke, Sandra (Dennis) Whiteman, Darlene (Rocky) Ruetz, and Murray (Cyndee) Olson; feline companion, Olivia; many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
The family will receive guests on Thursday, May 20, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, West Sylvania Chapel, 3655 King Rd., Toledo (419-392-9500). Graveside Services and Interment will take place Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at Toledo Memorial Park, 6382 Monroe, St., Sylvania, OH 43560.
The family would like to give a special thank you to all of the nurses and staff at the Toledo Hospital, Ebeid Hospice, along with Dr. Elkhatib, Dr. Schroeder, Dr. Zaidi, Dr. Burgess, Dr. Dasai, Dr. Fayad, Dr. Burchfield, Dr. Rosenthal and the ProMedica Physicians Cardiology Group for all of their love, care and support given to Gordon and our family through this difficult time.
