Gordon Jenkins

Gordon Jenkins, age 77, of Sylvania, Ohio, passed away on January 18, 2025. Born in a small suburban town outside of Pittsburgh, PA, Gordon's life was guided by his love for God, family, and country. In eighth grade, Gordon met Audrey and their mutual attraction was immediate. They became high school sweethearts and married at the age of 20; nurturing a love that lasted 57 years. Gordon attended Westminster Presbyterian College, where he studied the sciences. While there, at age 18, he made a life-changing decision to join the Catholic faith and remained active in the church. Gordon began a successful 15-year career in sales at Industrial Rubber Products. In 1988, he and his family moved to the Toledo, Ohio area, where he worked in middle management for Envirosafe Services of Ohio and later transferred to Heritage Company until his retirement.

Gordon worked hard and played hard. His boundless curiosity led him to be self-taught and to develop many interests enhanced by several hobbies, particularly playing guitar and amateur astronomy. He also enjoyed flying RC planes, photography, all sports, gin, and he especially loved to play golf. His love affair with golf began at age 14 and peaked with his membership at Highland Meadows where he played until having to retire from the game.

Known for his honesty and big heart, Gordon nurtured many long-lasting friendships throughout his life, but his most significant accomplishment was raising his four boys, with Audrey, to become good men, living their lives with a love for God, family, and country. His legacy of love, curiosity, and integrity will be cherished by all who knew him.

Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, William D. and Mary Jenkins. Surviving are his wife, Audrey; sons, Scott, Glenn (Christine), Christopher (Katherine), and Michael; grandchildren, Andrea, Abbie, Daniel, Madison, and Matthew; brother-in-law, Gilbert (Darlene) Meyer; and sister-in-law, Patricia Clements. 

A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, February 7, 2025 at 10:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 5411 Main St, Sylvania, Ohio. The mass can be viewed remotely by visiting the church's website. Additionally on February 7th, family and friends are invited to gather in Gordon's memory between 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm at the Wurzel Family Center, 6516 Ravine Dr, Sylvania, Ohio.
