Gordon Frederick Heminger, Sr., age 85, of Holland, passed away peacefully, Monday, January 28, 2013 at St. Luke's Hospital due to complications from a stroke and pneumonia. He was born in Bowling Green to Marvin and Estella (Gordon) Heminger on February 19, 1927. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp serving our country proudly in WWII. Gordon was retired from Iron Workers Local 55. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Wilma Takacs. Gordon is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Donna M. Heminger; son, Gordon (Debi) Heminger, Jr.; daughter, Sherri (Howard) Blakeman; grandchildren, Gordy III, Kasey (Jake Perkins) Rathburn, Nicole (Dave) Digby; Todd Blakeman and Greg (Whitney) Wasielewski; great-grandchildren, Cooper Rathburn, Natalie Digby and Parker, Reed and Peyton Wasielewski; brothers, Marvin (Donna) and Forest (Delores) Heminger; long time friend, Edward "Buster" Mackey; brother-in-law, Jerry (Carol) Krueger; sisters-in-law, Bonnie Krueger, Marilyn Krueger and Ann Rubinson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive guests on Thursday from 5 – 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo (419-381-1900).
