Goldie Mae Bailey, age 89, of Toledo, passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at the Franciscan Care Center. She was born on November 5, 1922 to Monroe and Alice (Killengar) Gardner in Knoxville, Tennessee. Goldie loved dancing, downtown Toledo and caring for people. She worked for 25 years as a waitress for Jim Feaks and then was an apartment manager for 10 years. Goldie loved nothing more than the time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, John Wampler and 2 sisters. Goldie is survived by her loving children, Dee Johnson, Mary (Bob) Morissy, Monroe (Ginger) Bailey and Tina (Paul) Gray; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great- grandchildren; sister, Mary Staunton; and many other relatives and dear friends.
The family will receive guests on Monday from 2 – 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300) with Scripture Services at 7:30 p.m. Prayers will begin in the funeral home Tuesday at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church, 4100 Harvest Lane., Toledo. Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park.
