Gloria Fischer, 95, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2022. Gloria was born on April 3, 1927, in Pittsburgh, PA to Myrtle (Hasson) and Frank Ryan. The eldest of four siblings, Gloria and her family moved to Toledo, Ohio when she was a child. Gloria graduated from Woodward High School where she was a member of the school newspaper staff and wrote the weekly gossip column known as Ryan's Rumors.
Gloria married Frank C. Fischer Jr. in 1952 with whom she raised four children. Gloria worked for Toledo's classic retailer, the Lion Store, for many years. Gloria was a voracious reader, a hobby that she continued until the months before her death. She loved a good cup of coffee and enjoyed entertaining and spending time with her family and friends. Gloria was passionate about her Irish heritage and her Catholic faith.
She is survived by her four children: Frank Fischer (wife Carol), Lynne Fischer Louden (husband Jack), Laurie Stephens Hunter (husband Rick), and Brian Fischer. A loving Nana, she is mourned by her grandchildren: Julie Gebrosky (husband Alex), Becky Dustin (husband Ben), Lily Stephens, Avery Stephens, Tyler Fischer and Alexandra Fischer and five great-grandchildren. Gloria was preceded in death by her husband Frank C. Fischer; brothers Howard Ryan and Jim Ryan, sister Joanie Quinn and a group of dear lifelong friends who were like family.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Gloria will take place at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 2255 Central Grove, Toledo, Ohio 43614 at 10:00 a.m. on July 14, 2022.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations in Gloria's memory be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
