Gladys E. "Skip" Davison, age 90, passed away surrounded by her family on September 17, 2015 at Toledo Hospital. She was born on August 19, 1925 to the late Eva and Odie Hicks in Franklin, Tennessee.
Gladys enjoyed her life in Tennessee, especially her friends from school and was crowned "Mule Queen" in Columbia, TN (the mule capital of the world!). She relocated to Toledo and graduated from Scott High School where she was in the Honor Society. Gladys met Bob Davison on a blind date and they were married on June 9, 1945 in Savannah, Georgia while Bob was stationed in Beauford, SC during WWII. Her greatest joy in life was the family that the two of them created. Gladys was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, ballroom dancing and traveling with friends, Don and Rosemary.
Left to cherish her memory is the love of her life and beloved husband of 70 years, Bob; daughters, Linda (Frank) Heaps and Sandy (Mark) Ames; grandchildren, Frank Heaps III, Ryan (Allison) Ames, Alisha (Matthew) Polkowsky, Tiffany (Justin) Johnson and Kristi Davison; great-grandchildren, Claire, Christopher, Riley, Xander, Cole, Ella, Luke and E.J.; sister-in-law, Margie Jay; brother-in-law, Willard (Jayne) Davison; many nieces and nephews and the Kazmierczack Family. Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; 5 brothers and her son, Ron Davison.
The family will receive guests from3-7:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 20, 2015 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo (419-381-1900). The Funeral Service will be held on Monday at 10:30 a.m. Entombment will take place at Toledo Memorial Park.
