Gilberto Trevino, Sr., age 87, of Toledo, passed away peacefully, Monday, August 29, 2011 at Fairview Rehabilitation. He was born on December 30, 1923 in Laredo, Texas. Gilberto was employed with Jeep for 20 years before retiring in 1988. He loved boxing, westerns and going to Mexican movies. Gilberto enjoyed watching baseball and football, especially the Dallas Cowboys. He loved nothing more than spending time with his family and grandchildren. Gilberto will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Carmen (Lopez); son, Manuel Trevino; step-great-grandchildren, Thea and Athena; and 1 sister and 2 brothers. Gilberto is survived by his loving wife of almost 21 years, Doris "Dee" Trevino; children, Gilberto (Wanda) Trevino, Jr., Richard Trevino, Ernest (Debora) Trevino, David (Barb) Trevino, Oscar Trevino, Joe (Denise) Trevino, Marcos Trevino, Carlos Trevino, Ramon (Amy) Trevino and Carmen (Phil) Urbina; step-children, Sarah Cruz, Marcy Quinn and Jeffrey (Amy) Parish; 37 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; daughters-in-law, Carla Trevino and Janet Trevino; and many other family members and dear friends.
The family will receive guests on Thursday from 3 – 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300) with a Scripture Service at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Church, 728 South St. Clair St., with visitation one hour prior at church. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
