Gilbert Lawrence Sr.

Gilbert Lawrence Sr., age 66 of Toledo passed away unexpectedly Saturday, March 12, 2011 at The Toledo Hospital. He was born November 28, 1944 to Warren Lawrence and Margaret (Kessler) Miller in Toledo. Gilbert was a lifelong insurance agent in Toledo and also the owner of House of Insurance. For 10 years he also was the owner and publisher of the Consumers Guide newspaper. Gilbert enjoyed sailing on Lake Erie and vacationing in the Florida Keys and Mackinaw Island. Over the years Gilbert had many pets that were very much a part of the family.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 48 years, Doreen (Phillips) Lawrence; children, Darlene (John) Lawrence, Gilbert (Marie) Lawrence Jr., Denise (Kevin) Webb and Diane (Russell) Maneval; 10 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; sister, Margaret (Richard) Heckel and brothers, Warren and Grant Lawrence. Preceding him in death were his parents and brother, John Lawrence.

The family will receive guests Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin in the funeral home Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.
