Gertrude Bugert

April 22, 1945 — January 5, 2022

Gertrude "Trudy" Palmer-Bugert, daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, cousin, always a friend, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at Parkcliffe Assisted Living. Trudy was born on April 22, 1945 to Raymond and Josephine (Vallone) DiGiacomo in Brooklyn, NY.

She loved telling and hearing a good joke and to laugh out loud. She had a great smile and laugh. Trudy loved dancing, singing loudly, Barbara Streisand, Neil Diamond, and sometimes uncomfortably, Tom Jones. She loved every one of her cats named Lucky. Her priorities were always family, friends and her nails. She took on sailing, galley cooking and college in her 40's. She loved helping people and was a great listener with levelheaded advice and warm hug when you needed it.

When you think of Trudy (mom) you may remember boxed wine, burned hair, big hair, hairspray, jewelry hound, getting her nails done, cooking, crunching on her chicken bones, singing very bad opera to the seagulls while sailing and her famous chicken cutlets. Some of her favorite things were big family dinners and gatherings, shopping, traveling and sitting in her comfortable chair with any one of the Lucky's and a remote control. She is sitting with her mother and father, brothers and sisters, husband, aunts and uncles, and cousins. Trudy is the one laughing the loudest and most often.

Left to cherish her memory is her son, Tom Palmer; daughter, Theresa (Bill) Windnagle ; grandchildren, Max, Luke, Zach Jeffrey, and Nicole (Josh); and great grandchildren, Gale and Shelby.

Trudy was preceded in death by her parents, Josephine Vallone and Raymond DiGiacomo; siblings, Agatino DiGiacomo, Antonina DiGiacomo, Alfonso DiGiacomo and Mary Badamo.

The family will receive guests Thursday, January 13, 2022 from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Northwest Chapel, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Friday at 10:00 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Toledo Memorial Park.
