Gertie Mae Simpson

Gertie Mae Simpson (Sister) was born June 9th, 1943, to Joshua Jones and Addie Lee Brits in Sunflower, Mississippi. She moved to Toledo, Ohio, where she started her career and family. Gertie retired from Jeep and put all her time into her growing family. 

Gertie Simpson (Sister) was a big family-oriented woman. She welcomed all with open arms into her heart, she saw the good in every single person she met. She had a true heart of gold. Gertie (sister) was a kind, caring, and loving woman. She had a strong faith in God and taught her family such values. She put her family above all and loved beyond words. She spent her life dedicated to her growing family. 

Gertie Simpson (Sister) gained her wings on January 18th, 2025, at home surrounded by family. She is preceded in death by both parents Joseph and Addie; her sisters, Dorothy Brown and Sally Williams; her brothers, Josh Jones and Roosevelt Johnson; her loving sons, Billy Simpson and Sylvester Jones; daughter, Patricia Simpson; her grand-daughter, Atoyia Hines; and grandson, Arshawn Hines. 

Gertie Simpson (Sister) leaves to cherish her memory and continue her legacy are her children, Micheal Simpson, Bobby Simpson, Ronnie Simpson, Laurie Simpson and Connie Simpson; her siblings, Bobby Jones, Addie Turner, and Betty Joiver; her 14 Grandchildren, Keeonnia Wright, Kentara Simpson, Christopher Williams, Tyron Simpson Sr, Cor’Nishia Simpson, Bobby Simpson Jr, Gerron Simpson, Ronnie Simpson Jr, Ronnae Simpson, Keosha Pearson, Reveah Simpson, Royonne Simpson, Remonie Simpson, and Riyea Simpson; and her great-grandchildren, Ra’Nyia McKinley, Amir Hopings, Rakayla Wright, Randolph McKinley, Mariah Hopings, Messiah Wright, Jeremiah Simpson, Chase Osley, Chance Osley, Kemare Galloway, Atashionna Galloway, Corliyah Galloway, Corneal Galloway, Courtney Galloway, Savannah Hines, Cor’Monii Wells, Ke’ouir Bradly , Kimare Cook, Ke’ashja Pearson, Tyron Simpson Jr, Kyra Simpson, King Christopher Williams, Roderick Neal Jr, and A’Layla Cosper.

Family and friends may visit at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 West Laskey Road on Toledo, Ohio 43623, on Saturday, February 8, 2025, from 10:00 am - 11:00 am. A funeral service will take place at 11:00 am.
