Geraldine W. Hammel

Geraldine W. "Geri" Hammel, age 88, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 with her loving family by her side. She was born on April 10, 1927 to Leroy and Erna (Plitz) Heussner in Detroit, MI. Geri was devoted to her family and they will remember her as a selfless loving mother and Nonny Pooh who always put everyone's needs before her own. Geri married the love of her life, Art Hammel on June 1, 1944 and he preceded her in passing.

Preceding her in passing is her husband, Art; son, Richard and infant daughter, Cathy. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Claudia (Howard) Brown and Caroline Phillips; grandchildren, Kathy, Kim, Scott, Kristi, Darci, Elizabeth, Daniel, Richard and Wendy; great-grandchildren, Christopher, Wesley, Autumn, Pauline, Megan, Paige, Courtney, Giles, Isabelle, Alden, Braiden, Temperance, Faye, Noah and Ava; great-great-grandchildren, Eric, Nathan and Onyx and sister, Phillis Decker.

A Memorial Service for Geri will be on Monday, January 25, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 428 N. Erie Street, Toledo, OH 43604. A wake will follow in the church.
