Geraldine Hymon, age 97, of Toledo, passed away May 20, 2019 at St. Anne's Hospital. She passed away in the company of family and holding the hand of her great-grandson, Christopher. Geraldine was born March 30, 1922 in Nymphs, Alabama. She was the seventh child born to Steve and Annie (Clay) Howard. Preceded her in death are five brothers: Marcenie Howard, Mitchell Howard, Henry Howard, Loverd Howard, Claxton Howard, and one sister Tureatha (Howard) Ferguson. In addition to her siblings Geraldine was also preceded in death by her husband Aaron Hymon.

Geraldine attended Southern Normal School in Brewton, Alabama. She later met Cleo McClain Sr. and they married in 1941. Of this union three children were born: Cleo McClain Jr., Maxine McClain, and Elaine McClain. Geraldine moved to Toledo, Ohio in 1956. Geraldine joined Third Baptist Church and was a faithful member for many years. She later joined Church of the New Covenant in Toledo, Ohio where she was a faithful member until she passed away; she was the oldest member at the church. She also cooked in the kitchen for many years and was an usher. She was called "Half Pint" by Rev. Green. Geraldine also devoted many of her years fishing, working in her yard, and cooking; especially for the holiday. She also enjoyed working around her in her house. She could sew and use a hammer like a professional. If you asked her, she could do it. Geraldine was devoted to her family and loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her great-great-grandchildren.

Geraldine departed life on May 20th, 2019. She leaves behind many who will forever celebrate her life and legacy. Those include two children: Cleo (Daisy) McClain Jr. of Brewton, AL, Maxine (McClain) Jones of Brewton, AL, five granddaughters: Marguerite (McClain) Gibson, Kimberly (Isaiah) Dubose of Fleming Island, Carlena R. McClain of Birmingham, AL, Maddison I. McClain, and Joddie McClain, ten great-grandchildren Morgannia (Marcus), MarKiesha (Wormely) McGee, Christopher M McClain, Gregory A. Gibson II, Summer Gibson, Isaiah Dubose, Sky Dubose, Heaven Lee, S'ra Lee, A'liah Cofield, and Kayleigh Johnson, five great-great grandchildren: Malikh Dawson, Kailah McGee, Kamille Betts, Mariah Dawson, and Winter Cunningham, many loving nieces and nephews and devoted family and friends that will miss her along with her and loyal, faithful, loving canine companion, Peewee.

The family will receive guests Tuesday, May 28, 2019 from 10:00 am - 11:00 am at Church of the New Covenant, 3864 Jackman Rd. Toledo 43612; Newcomer- Northwest Chapel (419-473-0300) is assisting the family. Funeral Services will begin Tuesday at 11:00 am. at the church followed by burial at at Woodlawn Cemetery, Toledo.
