Gerald Toler

Gerald (Jerry) Toler passed away after a lengthy illness on March 8, 2023. Jerry was born to the union of Carter Toler Jr. and Mary Lee Toler in Toledo, Ohio on October 29, 1951. He attended Toledo Public Schools and graduated from Scott High School. After high school he worked with the Lucas County Sheriff Department. He was also a military veteran where he was stationed in Florida and Germany. Jerry was a lover of plants and floral arranging, working with numerous flower shops while living in Brooklyn, NY in the 1980s. Jerry was also an avid football fan with his favorite teams being The Ohio State University Buckeyes and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Jerry was preceded in death by both parents, sisters Cherly Toler, Bridgette Nunn, Mary Anne Nunn, Elaine Brandon, Jennifer Toler-Lawton and brother, Ellery Q. King.

Jerry leaves to cherish his memory son, Justin Toler (Lynn Cole); wife, Joy Toler; grandson, Justyn Toler; sisters Cynthia Toler, Esther Dumas and Phonsa Powell along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family will receive guests Friday, March 24, 2023 from 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - SW Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. (419-381-1900). Funeral Services will begin Friday at 2:00 pm. at the funeral home.
