Gerald R. "Dick" Stahl

Gerald R. “Dick” Stahl, age 81, of Sylvania, passed away peacefully Monday, September 23, 2024 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Ebeid Center in Sylvania surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 25, 1943 to Gerald and Marie Stahl. Dick was raised in Toledo, went to St. Mary’s grade school and was a 1962 graduate of Scott High School. He worked at Chrysler Jeep Corp. for 42 years in the body shop, was a union steward and a committee man retiring in 2004. Dick was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Vietnam War. He was a proud member of VFW Post 606 and the Catholic War Vets. 

Dick loved his family and was a member of St. Catherine’s Church for 44 years. He coached football for the school for 4 years when his son played. Dick loved playing golf with his friends. He played softball for many years for the Jeep league and city teams. Dick was a diehard fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes, the Cleveland Browns, the Cleveland Indians and was an avid reader. He became an active bird watcher as well in his later years. Dick’s smile, spirit and caring nature will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Suzanne Wolfe; and grandson, Tommy Stahl. Left to cherish Dick’s memory are his loving wife of 52 years, Marianne Stahl; children, Lisa Yontz; Thomas (Maria) Stahl; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brother, Thomas Stahl; many nieces, nephews and dear friends. 

The family will receive guests on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at St. Joe’s Parish Sylvania, 5411 Main St., Sylvania, Ohio 43560 with Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. in the church.
