Gerald L. "Jerry" Speelman, age 82, of Toledo, passed away Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at home with loving family by his side. He was born on November 17, 1939 to Charles and Francis Speelman in Toledo. Jerry was a proud veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. He worked as a Toledo Police Officer since the early 1960's for over 30 years before retiring. Jerry was a longtime member of the Conn-Weissenberger American Legion Post #587 and the Sylvania Moose Lodge #1579.
Jerry enjoyed riding his Harley, hunting, fishing and being in the outdoors. He liked traveling to the beach to visit family. Jerry was an excellent baker. He often would pick a recipe out of the policeman's cookbook to share with his favorite girls at the credit union and the Knotty Pine, something they are truly going to miss. Jerry looked forward to any time spent with his daughters and grandchildren. He had a sense of humor, laughed at his own jokes, and will be missed by those who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 7 siblings. Left to cherish Jerry's memory are his loving daughters, Wendy (Billy) Howell, Dori (Gypsy) Monnett and Bernadette (Jeremy) Warren; grandchildren, Virginia, Jerry Lee, Tori Lynn, Dillon, Samantha, Tymber, Hannah, Danny, and Kloey; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Phyllis; nieces, nephews and dear friends.
