Gerald Podgorski

Gerald Z. "Popeye" Podgorski, 78, was called home on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 surrounded by his family at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Gerald retired from Dana Corporation in 1986. Jerry was an avid fisherman, hunter, outdoorsman, he loved sports especially the Detroit Red Wings and Detroit Lions. Jerry's great passion was fishing at his family's Lake House. He took great pleasure in watching his grandsons in their sporting endeavors.

Left to cherish his memory is Jerry's loving wife of 56 years, Diane (Jurski) Podgorski; son, Jeffrey (Jackie) Podgorski; daughters, Cynthia Briscoe, Rebecca (Chris) White and Sara Podgorski (Lydell); grandchildren, Blake, Brett, Cheryl, Adrienne, Courtney, Angela, Jordan and Kason; great grandchildren, Madison, Brooklyn, Laiken, Jade and Christian. In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his brothers, Richard and Donald; sister, Gloria and son-in-law, James Briscoe.

The family will receive guests Saturday, December 15, 2012 from 2:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. in the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo (419-381-1900). A Funeral Service will be held at 6:00 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
