Gerald H. Hoskins, Sr.

Gerald H. "Jerry" Hoskins, Sr., age 69, of Toledo, passed away peacefully Friday, October 24, 2008 in his home. He was born on April 3, 1939 to Pascal and Lena Hoskins in Forge Ridge, Tennessee. Jerry was employed with General Motors as a Benefits Representative for 38.9 years before retiring in 2001. He was a member of the UAW Local 14 and Conn-Weissenberger American Legion Post #587. Jerry often enjoyed bowling, fishing and golfing. He loved nothing more than spending time with his grandchildren. Jerry was a wonderful, caring, dedicated, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Gillis Hopper, grandson, Shawn Ryan Hoskins and brother Troy Hoskins. Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Mary Hoskins; sons, Gerald, Jr. "Jerry" (Donna), Stephen (Jackie) and Patrick (Jantee) Hoskins; grandchildren, Amy Leigh, Stephen Kent, Lauren Nicole, Rachel Marie and Eric Alan; brother, Charles (Betty) Hoskins; sisters, Glenda Sturgill and Patsy (Kenneth) Brooks; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

The family will receive guests on Monday from 2 – 8:00 p.m. at the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor Dean Angell. Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park.
