Gerald D. Czerniakowski
Gerald (Jerry) D. Czerniakowski died peacefully at home in his sleep on Monday, April 26, 2010.
Jerry was born March 13, 1940 in Toledo, OH to Leo and Helen (Czerniak). He was a graduate of St. Anthony Elementary School and Macomber Vocational High School. He served proudly in the 82nd Airborne Division of the U.S. Army and was employed by the U.S. Postal Service for 35 years retiring in 1995. Jerry enjoyed sports and was an avid fan of his children, grandchildren and the University of Notre Dame.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 45 years, Patricia (Kennedy); son, Jeffery of Philadelphia, PA; daughters, Sherri (Troy) Moore of Bedford, MI and Lori Czerniakowski (Beth) of Sylvania, OH. Jerry is also survived by sister, Maryann Czerniakowski of Toledo. Left with loving memories of their Grandpa/Papa are Devon and Morgan Moore and Brady Emerson Czerniakowski. Jerry will also be greatly missed by sisters-in-law Jeanne Todak and Kathleen Kennedy of Toledo, Sr. Mary Sue Kennedy, OP of Palmyra, MI; brother-in-law John (Joyce) Kennedy of Wimauma, FL, close friend, Carol Stoll, and numerous nieces and nephews. Jerry's faithful canine companions were Molly and Chachi.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Pius X Church by Fr. Richard Morse, OSSF at 10:00 AM on Thursday, April 29, 2010. The family will receive guests at the church one hour before the service. A private interment will be held at Resurrection Cemetery.
Donations may be made to the American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association or a charity of the donor's choice.
